DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 39 OF 365

A returning son

Read Luke 15:11–32

The returning son confesses his sin, and the father welcomes him with compassion. The older son exposes a different distance from the father's heart through resentment. Read both sons into the story's challenge. Grace confronts rebellion and self-righteousness alike, inviting repentance and participation in the father's joy.

Put the Word into practice

Consider whether you need to confess wrongdoing or release resentment at someone else's restoration.

Search the Scripture

How does the older son's response deepen the meaning of the father's welcome?

A prayerful response

Father, lead me into repentance and give me a heart that welcomes Your mercy toward others. Amen.
