DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 364 OF 365
Labor That Is Not Lost
Read Revelation 14Amid Revelation 14’s solemn announcements of judgment, a heavenly voice pronounces blessing over those who die belonging to the Lord. The Spirit confirms that their exhausting labor will give way to rest, while their works accompany them. Rest does not mean their faithfulness becomes irrelevant; it means their toil is finished without its fruit being forgotten. The preceding verse identifies the saints by perseverance, obedience to God’s commandments, and faith in Jesus. For the chapter’s first hearers, this promise placed costly obedience within a larger horizon than survival. Death could end their labor, but it could not erase their belonging to the Lord or make their obedience meaningless. For believers today, the comfort remains deeply practical: faithful work need not become visible or celebrated to matter. The Lord’s promised rest allows us to persevere without treating present recognition as the measure of a faithful life.
Put the Word into practice
Choose one neglected responsibility that expresses obedience to God, and complete it today without seeking recognition, remembering that faithful labor matters beyond its immediate visibility.

How does the promise that believers’ works accompany them reshape your view of obedience that receives no recognition now?
A prayerful response
Lord Jesus, steady me when faithful service feels exhausting or unnoticed. Keep me obedient and trusting, and teach me to receive the hope of your rest without withdrawing from the work before me. Amen.
