DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 356 OF 365
The Cry That Heaven Hears
Read Revelation 6At the fifth seal, the vision turns from devastation on earth to those killed because of their faithfulness to God’s word and the Lamb’s testimony. Their deaths have not erased their voices. They appeal to the Master’s holiness and truth, asking when he will judge their killers. The answer includes both honor and delay: each receives a white robe, yet they are told to rest while further suffering remains ahead. For the assemblies receiving this vision, faithfulness is therefore not presented as a way to escape every violent consequence. Neither is delayed judgment evidence that God has forgotten his servants. The passage makes room for an anguished appeal for justice while leaving its execution with God. We should not flatten their cry into cheerful resignation. Their grief is heard, their faithfulness is honored, and the timing remains beyond their control.
Put the Word into practice
Bring one specific injustice before God today. Describe it honestly, ask him to judge rightly, and entrust its final resolution to him rather than nurturing a plan for personal revenge.

How do the white robes and the command to rest together shape your understanding of God’s response to the martyrs?
A prayerful response
Holy and true Lord, hear those who suffer for bearing witness to you. Receive our grief and our longing for justice. Keep us faithful during delay, and guard our hearts from taking vengeance into our own hands.
