DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 348 OF 365
Love That Remains in the Truth
Read 2 John 1Love and truth belong together throughout this letter. The elder rejoices that members of the household he addresses are walking in truth, then urges them to love one another through obedience to God’s commands. His warning about deceivers does not interrupt that concern; it shows why love needs discernment. These teachers deny that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, attacking the confession at the heart of the community’s faith. Receiving and welcoming them would make the recipients participants in their work. The issue is not permission to treat outsiders cruelly, but responsibility for the teaching they help advance. For believers today, generosity must not become endorsement of a message that denies Jesus. Remaining in Christ’s teaching protects genuine fellowship with the Father and the Son. Faithful love seeks another person’s good while refusing to support what draws people away from Christ.
Put the Word into practice
Before sharing or financially supporting a Christian teacher this week, examine whether that teacher clearly confesses Jesus Christ come in the flesh; withhold endorsement from teaching that denies him.

According to verses 6–11, how does walking in love affect both your obedience and the teaching you choose to support?
A prayerful response
Father, make my love truthful and my discernment loving. Keep me rooted in the teaching of Jesus, and help me recognize when my welcome would become support for deception. Let obedience shape the way I care for others. Amen.
