DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 320 OF 365
Fully Seen, Welcomed to Grace
Read Hebrews 4Being completely known by God could make us want to hide. Hebrews 4 says his living word exposes the heart’s thoughts and intentions, and nothing in creation escapes his sight. The original readers could not answer the warning about disobedience with outward appearances; God saw beneath them. Yet the chapter does not leave exposed people without help. It turns immediately to Jesus, the great high priest who has passed through the heavens. He understands human weakness through real temptation, while remaining without sin. That combination matters: his sympathy does not excuse sin, and his holiness does not make him indifferent to our struggle. Because this Jesus represents his people, they are urged to approach God confidently for mercy and timely help. The proper response to being searched by God is not concealment, but honest dependence on the grace available through his Son.
Put the Word into practice
Bring one motive you would rather conceal into prayer today, confessing it honestly and asking for mercy and help to respond obediently.
Search the Scripture
How does the movement from God’s searching sight in Hebrews 4:12–13 to Jesus’ priesthood in verses 14–16 shape your response to exposed sin?
A prayerful response
God, you see what I hide even from myself. Thank you for giving me a high priest who understands weakness without sharing in sin. Help me approach you honestly and receive the grace I need.
