DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 283 OF 365
Strength to Receive Christ’s Love
Read Ephesians 3Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14–21 moves from inward strengthening to a deepening grasp of Christ’s love. Writing to believers who might become discouraged by his imprisonment, Paul asks the Father to empower them through the Spirit. Their greatest need is not merely an explanation of his troubles, but strength within their own hearts. Notice that understanding Christ’s love is something they pursue together with God’s people, not as isolated individuals. The images of roots and foundations present love as the stability beneath Christian growth. This love exceeds what the mind can fully contain, yet Paul still prays that they will truly know it. His closing praise celebrates God’s ability to accomplish more than they can imagine, with that power already at work among them. Here, divine power serves a deeply personal and communal purpose: forming people whose lives are filled with God’s presence and grounded in Christ’s love.
Put the Word into practice
Pray Ephesians 3:16–19 in your own words for one person in your congregation, asking specifically for inward strength and a deeper grasp of Christ’s love.

How does Paul’s request for inward strength reshape what you ask God to do for believers facing discouragement?
A prayerful response
Father, strengthen us through your Spirit where discouragement has weakened us. Deepen our faith in Christ and establish our life together in his love. Help us receive what we cannot fully comprehend, and let your power bring glory to you among your people. Amen.
