DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 239 OF 365
Someone Must Speak
Read Romans 10Paul’s sequence of questions in Romans 10:14–17 moves backward from calling on the Lord to the sending of a messenger. Calling requires believing; believing requires hearing; hearing requires someone to proclaim the good news. Salvation is not an achievement reserved for one ethnic group, because the same Lord receives both Jew and Greek. Yet that wide invitation does not make proclamation unnecessary. It makes proclamation urgent. Paul wants his Roman readers to recognize the human voices involved in bringing the message near to others. He also acknowledges that not everyone who hears responds in faith, so faithful witness cannot be measured simply by immediate acceptance. Our responsibility is neither to manufacture belief nor to remain silent. It is to communicate the good news of the risen Jesus so that people can hear and call on him.
Put the Word into practice
Arrange one conversation this week with someone willing to hear why you trust Jesus. Clearly explain that he is Lord, that God raised him from the dead, and that salvation is received through faith rather than earned.

A prayerful response
Lord Jesus, give me love that is willing to speak and humility that listens well. Help me explain your good news clearly, leaving the response in your hands rather than pressuring anyone. Amen.
