DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 235 OF 365
Put Your Members at God’s Disposal
Read Romans 6Romans 6 moves from what has happened to believers in Christ to what they must now do with their bodies. Paul reminds his readers that union with Jesus means participation in his death and a new life directed toward God. He then makes that truth practical: they must not offer their bodily members to sin, but present themselves to God for righteousness. Hands, speech, and physical actions are not spiritually irrelevant. They become means through which obedience or disobedience takes shape. Grace therefore does not make our choices unimportant; it establishes a new allegiance. Paul’s commands to resist sin show that temptation remains, but temptation is not proof that sin still holds rightful dominion. Believers are to act from their new identity, offering their embodied lives to the God who has brought them into life.
Put the Word into practice
Choose one bodily habit that regularly serves sin, such as harmful speech. Today, deliberately redirect that same capacity toward righteousness by speaking a truthful, constructive word to someone you would otherwise criticize.
Search the Scripture
What would change today if you treated a particular part of your body as an instrument offered to God rather than to sin?
A prayerful response
God, I belong to you through Jesus Christ. Help me refuse sin’s demands and offer my body for your purposes. Let my words, actions, and habits express the new life you have given me.
