DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY · DAY 227 OF 365
Repentance That Becomes Visible
Read Acts 26Paul’s account before Agrippa moves from Christ’s commission to the response his preaching requires. Jesus sends him to people in darkness so that they may turn to God, receive forgiveness, and share an inheritance with those sanctified by faith in him. Paul then explains that he called people to repent, turn to God, and practice deeds consistent with that repentance. These are not competing messages. Forgiveness and belonging are received through faith in Jesus, while changed conduct gives visible expression to turning toward God. The contrast with Paul’s former life makes this concrete: the man who once pursued believers now carries Christ’s message to others. His defense before rulers is therefore more than an argument for his innocence; it is an appeal for their conversion. The chapter invites us to examine whether our profession of faith is accompanied by a real change of direction that others can recognize.
Put the Word into practice
Choose one behavior that contradicts your professed turning to God, and replace it today with a specific action that visibly expresses repentance.

How do Jesus’ commission in verses 17–18 and Paul’s preaching in verse 20 connect faith, forgiveness, and changed conduct?
A prayerful response
Jesus, thank you for offering forgiveness and a place among your people through faith in you. Turn me from darkness toward your light, and let my choices show the reality of repentance. Give me love for others who need to hear your message.
